There are many programs designed to keep "at risk" kids away from the trappings of drugs and gangs... but what about who those who were never reached... who made poor choices throughout their lives, and continue to do so. 
In Dorchester, Massachusetts, a neighborhood of Boston, there is an organization called Innercity Weightlifting, which takes men who society gave up on long ago and teaches them a new meaning of "strength".

In connecting experiential workplace learning to intellectual classroom pursuits, BAC students acknowledge global issues in a rapidly changing, built environment. This experience insures that graduates find themselves well prepared to enter the design professions and address the challenges of the 21st century. The BAC presents its students with the rare opportunity for cross-disciplinary collaboration. An educational dialogue ensues, as students learn more about topics related to the design fields, making the BAC a nexus of life-long learning.

Over 80 artists from the Copley Society of art (Co|So) set up their easels to paint in some of Boston's most treasured spots. The focus of Fresh Paint 2010 is the green spaces surrounding Boston.  Copley artists were found in and around the Emerald Necklace, the Back Bay Fens, the Esplanade, the Rose Kennedy Greenway, the Boston Public Garden, Jamaica Pond, Arnold Arboretum, and the Boston Common.

The BAC Summer Academy, the Boston Architectural College's pre-college design exploration program for high school students has just completed an intensive month of work.
